Results of Appointment with Dr. Gupta today

Good afternoon friends,

This morning Jana and Brian had an appointment with Dr. Gupta. The expectation was that he would examine Brian's elbow and set a date for surgery in June. Well ... it didn't go quite like that. They took more x-rays of his elbow and determined that the calcium is still growing significantly in his elbow. As long as it continues to grow they can't do surgery. So they scheduled another appointment for next month. At the earliest his surgery will not take place till July now.

This is some what disappointing in that we were hoping to get the surgery behind us once and for all so all that was left was the physical and occupational therapy. The hope was there would still be some time left this year for Brian to do some fishing using both arms. That probably won't happen now but it doesn't mean he can't do some fishing any way. Brian seems to be energized enough to see what he can do with his right arm given his current limitations. He has recovered a good bit of movement and dexterity with his right wrist and fingers. His strength needs to continue to improve, and should, with therapy. He will just have to learn how to use his left arm still more. Being a "lefty" myself, maybe I can help some.

His walking continues to improve slowly. Jana keeps him moving quite a bit. He doesn't like to use the wheelchair much so walking more is good. Will you pray for Brian and Jana as they continue with their recovery? I know it has been a long haul and our requests for your prayers never seem to cease. If your lives are anything like ours you never lack for issues to pray about. Our world is so needy too. We do appreciate the times you think of Brian and Jana, very much. We thank God for all the many kindnesses sent our way every day, often at our meal times when we are together.
