Elbow Surgery: A Success
Hey there! Brian went in for his elbow surgery this afternoon at around 2:50. About 3.5 hours later, Dr. Gupta called Brian's uncle Little, my dad, mom, Kory and myself into a conference room to tell us that the surgery was a success. While on the table, Dr. Gupta was able to get full range of motion out of Brian's elbow and did not have to apply the external fixator. However, just because Dr. Gupta was able to reconstruct Brian's elbow to the point where he has full range of motion doesn't mean that Brian will be able to move it that much. The majority of how much motion Brian regains will depend on Brian and how aggressive he is with moving it. Where the tendon was removed from his foot is causing Brian a little bit of soreness, but other than that his right arm is still numb for the most part although it's gradually coming back. Dr. Gupta just came into Brian's hospital room to check on him and said everything looked fine and he would be back in the morning. After being discharged, we will see Dr. Gupta again next week to determine when he will need radiation to ensure that the bone doesn't grow back. We are in the Norton Pavilion on Broadway in downtown Louisville, room 261. We are monitoring for infection and pain control. Hopefully we will be able to leave Thursday or Friday! Thanks for all the continued prayers!
