Update, Tuesday Morning, 9:45AM

Good morning! Brian has been wheeled off to speech therapy and Dad is at a conference so I thought I would update the blog myself. Dr. Gormley came into Brian's room around 9:15 with a resident doctor, Dr. Schuster, to remove his G-tube. Since they have to stay in 6 weeks and I've never seen one removed. Brian had himself in a nervous sweat before the suture (stich) was even cut loose, but what I thought would be a slow removal, turned into one fast YANK! And voila! Brian has no more extraneous devices attached to him! I think Dr. Schuster even propped up a foot behind her to get some leverage. All in all, Brian said it didn't hurt at all, rather felt funny. I can only imagine. Brian can't eat for another 4 hours, so his appetite has time to grow into something I had better prepare to feed!
Susan, the case manager popped in this morning to tell us that he should plan on going home in a week to 2 weeks! Frazier is asking for 2 weeks, she said insurance may only allow one. And then the outpatient program best suited for Brian has a waiting list so we may have to have home health until a spot opens up for him.
